I almost renamed this drink “The Hulatini” because the picture just kept reminding me of a hula girl in her grass skirt (the napkin) and a bright yellow hibiscus flower tucked behind her ear (the starfruit).
I have to say, I obviously have not had a whole lot of opportunity to buy starfruit before, so maybe thats what it is with me- but I am not impressed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful and stylish and it really dresses up the look of a plate, but… I just feel like there’s no substance to it! It’s like a vapid socialite. So pretty, but there’s just nothing to it. If I’m missing something- let me know.
I had about three more starfruit left over from my produce baskets from the last couple of weeks, but I don’t really know what to do with them… so I figured I would just bite the bullet, blend them all up, and create a drink around it! The nice thing about the starfruit is that is very light, crisp and refreshing and lends itself very well to a very summery martini!
