I feel like yogurt is one of those foods that kids are guaranteed to like- my friend’s daughters are super high maintenance eaters, but both of them will down yogurts like they’re going out of style.
My child? Nope. Not interested in liquid yogurt.
This phase started nearly immediately after buying a 50 pack of kid’s yogurt pouches from the store. It is so unfortunate, because in general, yogurt is a great option for kids’ growing bodies. If you can find one made with organic milk and fruit that also has no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors and no hormones- well, that’s just the icing on the cake!
When I saw Annie’s Homegrown Yogurt at Publix, I figured it was worth a shot to try for Jonathan once again. They had two new flavors, Summer Strawberry and Berry Patch, which I figured would probably go well- especially with those 13 lbs of fresh blueberries we picked last Friday morning!

Even though I knew he would like them if he tried them, I figured it was going to take some trickery to get him on board initially. Jonathan may be weird about the texture of yogurt, but he is NOT weird about the texture of ice cream. Since it’s already in the 90s here on the daily, I dug my frozen pop maker out of the depths of the deep freeze and started brainstorming. We always seem to have berries around, so I finely chopped up some strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, mixed them in to the different yogurt flavors and then covered them with a super simple, homemade chocolate magic shell? The end results? Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Pops and Double Berry Coconut Frozen Yogurt Pops?
The verdict? Well, let’s just say that I’m glad the photos turned out well on the first try- because there were none left, and I had a very gleeful three year old!
