The Lemon Slur
Like I stated a couple of days ago, I have taken to hosting a “Friday at Five” cocktail time at my house. The day I made the Strawberry Muddle, I got a text around 2:30 PM, asking what the drink du jour was. I replied, “Strawberries muddled with simply syrup and lemon slurs, topped with Prosecco.”
I got a reply: “What is a lemon slur?” My friend told me that she had talked to a friend of hers that was a bartender, who didn’t know what a lemon slur was either. She had googled it and found nothing.
I told her it was a typo. It was supposed to say lemon SLICE.
But I started thinking… it does sound like a drink, no? If not even GOOGLE can turn up something about lemon slurs, it clearly doesn’t exist. I’m going to make a lemon slur.
A slurry is a term commonly associated with cement. Officially, it is “a semiliquid mixture, typically of fine particles of manure, cement, or coal suspended in water.” That does NOT sound like anything that I want to actually drink, but it does sound like a good drink texture. It sounds…slushy. So I created a slushy slurry that may leave you slurring if you aren’t careful.
Friday at Five: The Lemon Slur
Ingredients
- 2 oz limoncello
- 2 oz Cointreau
- Ice a handful-1/3 cup
Instructions
- In a blender, combine all ingredients and pureé until smooth and no ice chunks remain. Pour into glasses and garnish with a lemon wheel. Serve, sip, sit back, deep breath, relax, enjoy.
